On the Move!

"On the Move! Spanish Grammar for Everyday Situations is accurate, engaging, and pedagogically sound. The authors provide concise explanations of complex grammar and incorporate them into chapters organized by the presentation of cultural material relevant to major cities throughout the Spanish-speaking world. This is an innovative approach to teaching grammar in context that will be far more engaging for students than the dry, abstract, and lengthy explanations that one finds in other textbooks. . . . The approach is consistent with content-based teaching and compatible with expectations for the abilities of intermediate-level learners as described by ACTFL Proficiency Standards." —Juliet Lynd, Illinois State University

"This text follows a natural order, is engaging, pedagogically sound, and acknowledges the way students learn and apply increasingly complex grammatic structures. The exercises are clearly presented and challenge the students to apply the structures they have reviewed." —Gustavo Arango, State University of New York, Oneonta

"This text follows a natural order, is engaging, pedagogically sound, and acknowledges the way students learn and apply increasingly complex grammatic structures. The exercises are clearly presented and challenge the students to apply the structures they have reviewed."

"I absolutely love this book! It can be used at the high school as well as at the college level. The incorporation of culture and art with the teaching of grammar in context make this a very useful book and interesting book. The articles about different cities and linguistic features are fascinating."
     —Patricia Smith, Tufts University

“[W]hat distinguishes On the Move!: Spanish Grammar for Everyday Situations from other Spanish grammar textbooks is its focus on twelve cities. . . . Geared for intermediate-level learners, the primary aim of On the Move! is to offer cultural content that is both relevant and practical for today’s learners.
"[W]hile learning key grammatical concepts, students are seamlessly exposed to linguistic variations and accents which are reinforced with literary excerpts . . . as well as by twelve freely-streamed online audio recordings.
"Truly special to On the Move! is that each chapter opens with original drawings . . . that are beautiful panoramic views of the chapter’s 'ciudad.' . . . Moreover, throughout each chapter are additional original drawings of peoples and places throughout the city’s varied neighborhoods. . .  [these] graceful drawings are sure to inspire class discussion.
"On the Move! . . . can be used as a stand-alone course textbook or as part of a broader Hispanic Studies course."
—Eileen Angelini, SUNY Empire State College, in The NECTFL Review
